Selling without an agent? |
|
Does selling without a real estate agent work? Selling your own property is something that some people try to do themselves. Some people feel that by not consulting a real estate agent that they can save money on fees to the agent. While to an extent that is true, unfortunately, the money that might be saved on fees to an agent is too often lost by not getting total value for your property.
One major disadvantage of selling your own property is that buyers are often reluctant to contact an owner selling a property directly to negotiate on price. This is often because the potential buyer does not want to offend the owner of the property. Another risk in going alone is choosing an unsuitable price for your property. Too high and you might struggle to generate interest and get the property sold in the timeframe you wanted. Too low and you may sell the property quickly but at a lower than possible return.
A real estate agent may know of future developments or changes to an area that could generate better value for your property.
